Carthage, MO 2/6/09
Well, finally we made it back to Carthage, MO to sing after nearly four (4) months! We've not been able to travel due to George's knee problems and surgery beginning of January. He was even able to make it up on the stage and kick his left leg and show the crowd how well he was doing! lol.
What a Great evening it was...weather was prefect and over 600 people came out to enjoy the music!
They started off with Canaan Bound, and they did a fantastic job, as always! Then great songwriter, Gary S. Paxton, (writer of Alley Oop and Monster Mash from years ago, and now that he's saved, he's written thousands of Gospel songs, in which many have been recorded by many of the top groups including his best known, "He Was There All The Time"), shared his testimony before he sang, and you've got to hear his testimony! We all appreciate and love Gary S. Paxton! Next was Nicola Wyatt from Oklahoma who sang her music/songs she's written. She has a low voice, and sings the country style. She an awesome singer and songwriter, and she writes some very profound songs...it's always interesting to hear her rhymes. Then Bill Burns came and sang a few of the songs from his pen...and of course, he had requests for That's Him, so he sang it! Anytime you ever hear Bill Burns in concert, you gotta make sure he sings that song! He wrote, and it was recorded by The Hoppers many years ago, and became a top hit. They recently rerecorded it as well! Many other groups have also recorded that song as well. He also wrote the song you all may have heard J.D. Sumner sing many a time, The Lord Still Lives In This Old House. Then Gary Paxton came back up and sang a couple more songs.
Then...we went up and sang! Yay! ha ha. We sang a new song that I wrote and one that Bill Burns wrote. It was interesting singing it in front of the one who wrote it.
Then Canaan Bound came back and closed out the evening with the classic The Lighthouse.
And on March the 6Th, Canaan Bound is having a big Gospel singing celebration for my 18Th birthday! Actually, it just happens to be on my birthday...but it's a nice thought!
As always, Canaan Bound will be there, as well as us...along with Duke Mason, Every body's favorite! He sounds like Elvis Presley so much so that the original Jouranaires has him come and do concerts with them!
And special guests for the night will be...The Lighthouse Messengers from Harrison, AR! If you remember, they are the host group of the biggest outdoor Gospel sing in Arkansas at Beacon Park just north of Harrison on 65! (The singing at Beacon Park is always held on the last weekend in July.)

Hope y'all have a safe blessed day!
Love y'all,
~Carol Lynn~
